Getting close to decision time. I'm concerned about ergonomics (I'm 6'8") so the New Holland TC24DA is out. The Kubotas seem to be just fine, going to sit in a 4410 tonight to get a feel for the fit.

Specs comparison gives an edge to the JD on paper, but I've also surmised that Kubota may be conservative on the capacities (loader, specifically).

Main uses: mowing, minor digging/leveling, arena maintenance, 4 horse farm, snow removal on 100 yd now gravel drive.

I think that the money spent on more HP could be worthwhile - not to mention the postpurchase regret that I'd gone bigger.

Any obvious criteria to favor one over the other? 7610 price point is nice...

Thanks,

Patrick

At 6'8" you really need to make sure it fits you first and foremost. I'm sure that will be your deciding factor.

Have you gotton price quoted of the JD versus the Kubota. I would think that the JD would be at least a couple of grand more.

I ended up with a deere over Kubota, because of the ergonomics, (which might be the oppisite for the next guy.) But in my case the Deere was a lot less than the Kubota.

But of all the Deeres the 4210 might be a little problematic. The 4115 or 4310 might be better choices. The 4210 might be a little underpowered for you... Did I say "might be"?

Of course, then there is the 3000 series...

Wow. Fit on the 4410 was exceptional. Lots of room, adjustability, etc. Hard to get a feel on how much the bells and whistles factor in to my use.

I'm gathering that the JD will be a bit higher but I'm willing to consider spending a little more to get the better tractor (functionality, capability, resale which is a tossup depending on who you talk to).

Overall the 4410 seemed like a big step up in overall perception of quality and finish.

Thanks for these and more opinions.

Although I do not want to put down Kubota, I wish there was more leg room on my B7800. I am six foot, and have several times smashed my knees when doing FEL work. Maybe I drove into the pile too fast or hit that unexpected rock, but either way it still hurts.

I'm not going to jump into the "better" issue. I don't think the 4410 is better or worse than the 7800, it's different.

I'm sure it's a better fit for your height. The 4410 is really not a direct comparison with the 7800. The comparable tractor in the Kubota brand would be in the L series.

I spent a lot of time on a 4410 last fall before deciding it was too big for my needs. It's a great machine. The operator area is spacious, comfortable and well laid out. Assuming you can use a tractor that large, you won't go wrong with it.

If the JD 4115 operator area was as comfortable as the 4410 I might have green in my garage instead of orange.

If it fits, buy it.

I see that you are looking at the 4410, I saw 4210 in the thread tile and thought that was it.

The 4410 is a great balance of power, for the size. If you can get a good deal on one, it should be an awesome buy....

I was little concerned about someone in YOUR frame size on a 4210...

Just to clarify - was mainly considering the 4210. My understanding is that the ergonomics of the operator platform should be the same for the 4210, 4310, and 4410.

Just for fun we drove a 4010 and moved some dirt around. Just fine for moving piles, but I look forward to putting the larger tractor to the test.

Here's an angle - the dealer's got a line on a 4310 that's got 45 hours on it from a promo event. Any suggestions on a price for that plus a 420 loader (new)?

Thanks!

Price is coming in right where I need it to - am I insane to get the 420 loader instead of the 430 or 300x to save some $$?

First, 4310 and 4410 are a little bigger than the 4210. You may notice the difference. As was explained to me, the only difference between the 4310 and 4410 is the engine.

Second, How much are you saving with the smaller loader? Is it something where they have a used one they are selling cheap, or are you looking just at the difference in the new prices? I think you will regret not going with the 430 in the long run. It would be an expensive thing to change once you took delivery.

I'd be all over the 4310 promo tractor. 45 hours isn't even broken in. I assume the warranty starts when you take delivery.

Have fun.

Hey how ya doing.. I'm going through the same thing right now, which tractor to buy, jd4310 or kubota b7800 with baskhoe and loader. my wife is leaning me towards the jd, she likes green. green outlifts the orange one by 1k more and out weighs by at least 1k more. price seems to be about 4k more for the jd. and it does have more room, I'm 6' 2". you were looking at the 4410, in the book that jd gave me its not showing a whole lot of difference in specs. 32hp vrs 35hp.. if ya look at the specs not a whole lot of difference..
maybe this helps ya, not sure.. but I will be making a choice for myself probally in the next 2 weeks.. hope its the right one.. Tracer

Ah, what at trip it's been. Thanks for the input, everybody. I called the dealer to pull the trigger on a 4310 with the 430 loader! Bad news is that it won't be in for about a week...

Also got a 3pt mower and a rear blade in the deal to take advantage of the money off promo on attachments.

I'll let you know how it goes!

John Deere be thy name...!

Tractor is in at the dealer - 45 hours and it looks brand spanking new. They're going to do the 50 hour service before I take delivery.

Now just waiting on the loader from another of the dealer's locations. Should be ready to go on Tuesday or Wednesday. Dealer asked if I wanted to play with a used 855 over the weekend - very tempting, no? Hate to christen the new property with anything but my new 4310.

Now I need to find a nice old/cheap cultivator for tearing up the arena...
