- ACTIVE: JDX730 DAYS GONE BY: JD3010, JD790, JD425
Own a 93 JD425 SN: M000425A013701, runs great. Several months ago, I purchased a 05 JD47 Blower with all the correct mounting hardware. Over the years I've used the Upper Steering Column Hydraulic Lever to raise/lower the mower deck so I added a hydraulic shut-off valve and added (4) connect couplings to the Selective Control Valve (SCV) # ST633024 to support the JD47 (4) hydraulic hoses.
When operating properly, the Lower Steering Column Lever controls the raise, lower and float of the JD47, the Upper Lever controls the left/right of the chute.
ISSUE: The lower valve in the SCV is frozen, the column linkage moves freely, I tried using "Blaster" penetrating lubricant, tapping it but no-go. In the JD Parts Catalog, it calls out a Detent Kit, PN: AM128927, has anyone replaced this. Noticed in the detailed description "Kit Detent Float w/improved Detent". Wondering if JD redesigned this valve because it wouldn't go in or hold the float so...... should I just replace it while I have the SVC out or try to un-freeze/use what's in there.
Another question, in the 425 Operator's Manual it states: "Be sure lever is returned to the middle (NEUTRAL) position and not locked in the forward (FLOAT) position." The upper lever is a lift/depress action to move chute left/right. I'm guessing to go into FLOAT I'd depress the lower lever and slide it forward to go into float. THANKS.........
