Dealer just installed the T-n-T and 5th SCV valve on my JD4310 tractor. I noticed that the joystick now controls the loader totally opposite from the way it used to. I know I can swap the hydraulic lines to correct this, but what is the correct joystick operation for the loader. If you push forward on the joystick, shouldn't the loader come down. And if you pull back, shouldn't it raise the loader. Pushing the lever left curls the bucket and pushing right dumps the bucket. Let me know if this is different.

You are correct in your thinking. They should have color coded at the quik release. If they installed it wrong at the manifold, well, thats where you'll have to switch the hoses.

How much for Top N tilt and 5th SVC??? Could you break down what costs what. How much was labor? etc...

Thanks...Kyle

The directions you said match the operation of mine as well.

They are swapped. All you need to do is swap the lines at the quick couplers. The color coded caps slip off and they managed to get them crossed.

Key Lever Movement Loader Operation
A Forward Boom Lower
B Locked Forward Boom Float
C Back Boom Raise
D To Right-Hand Side Bucket Dump
E To Full Right-Hand Sidea Bucket Fast Dump
F To Left-Hand Side Bucket Roll Back

Colored Couplers on Hose Couplers Colors on Coupler Plate
Red or Silver (Head-End Bucket Cylinder) Silver (Port No. 2)
Yellow (Rod-End Bucket Cylinder) Yellow (Port No. 1)
Green (Head-End Lift Cylinder) Green (Port No. 4)
Black (Rod-End Lift Cylinder) Black (Port No. 3)

My bet is yellow and black are swapped...

Wow -- nice picture rockyridge!

My 4400 w/430 FEL doesn't seem to have the "fast dump". Is there supposed to be a detent on the lever like the forward float position? And about how fast is the fast dump supposed to be?

The installation was done by the dealer and I thought it was a first-class job. Could he have forgotten something?

I originally bought a 420, and moved up to the 430. I did the switch myself, and somehow two lines got crossed, trust me, its very easy to do. Your symptoms match mine, and I was just certain that it was NOT crossed lines, but it was! On re reading my earlier Hydraulic line adventure I see my symptoms were differant, but I still am sure yours are swapped!

I saw your symptoms while I was swapping...

I appreciate all the help. I will check the lines tomorrow and connect them the correct way.

The dealer did a terrific job. The top-n-tilt works like a charm. They should'nt make CUT without them. It's definitely a must have for a landscaper. The total cost for everything was right around $2100. I don't have the cost breakdown yet, but I can get my dealer to fax them to me. There were 3 different kits that I purchase, the t-n-t kit, the diverter kit, and the 5th SCV kit. I know I could have gone a much cheaper route, but I prefer the set-up JD has.

One thing I will note though. It took me about 5 minutes to bend the heck out of the little connecton that holds the top hydraulic cylinder when not in use. I was able to straightened it out and will try to make sure it is out of the way before I raise the 3pt hitch.

My T-6 Harley Rake should be in this week. I can't wait to try that toy out. I was talking to another landscaper in the area yesterday who had one in front of his Skid steer. It did one heck of a job. He was ,however, a skid steer man and insisted the Harley Rake did a much better job with a skid steer. He looked like he had been playing in the dirt and kept spitting rocks and roots out of his mouth as he talked. I hope I don't get that much stuff thrown my way as I sit atop my JD4310.
