I would like to get some opinions (price, capability, reliability etc…) on a 1998 JD 4300 HST, 125 hours, 420 loader, 60” MMM, 72” FEL mounted snow blade and turf tires with an asking price of $13,000.

I’ve tried to find typical manufacturer specifications on this tractor, but the only thing I’ve been able to find has been from Tractordata.com which is a bit sparse for this model. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Mousedoc

Get the serial number and enter it on the Deere Product Improvement page: Product Improvement Process : : John Deere

Keep in mind that 1998 was the first year for the 4300.

There were issues with the steering geometry of the MFWD front axles which may cause the tractor to scuff your grass when turning.

There is no lockout for the regenerative function of the SCV. This could be an issue if you plan to add a grapple or 4-in-1 bucket.

Check the battery and hydraulic oil cooler for corrosion which has been an ongoing issue for some of the 4000 series tractors.
