Re: JD 4300 pic\'s

DDT,

Thanks for the pic's - that's a pretty machine!

<sigh> I only wish I had enough acreage to justify one of those . . . Although I sure have fun with my 4100 on just 3.5 acres. :)

I notice in your second pic that you have a landpride quick-tach 3PT hitch. I have several 3PT implements, including a Chipper/Shredder and a Sickle-Bar Mower, and I was wondering if a 3PT quick-tach is worth it. I've learned how to hook-up the implements, including adjusting the links correctly for tilt, angle, and centering the implement so it doesn't hit the tires. Hooking up implements seems to go pretty quickly now, but it occurs that a quick-tach might really help. (especially for my partner, she has some physical handicaps.) I have found that putting the implements on casters or dollies (so that they can be easily moved into position) has made a BIG difference. I also noticed that you have a 2" hitch receiver in the Quick-Tach hitch - that would sure make it easy for the little cart & trailer I have...

How do you like the quick-tach?
Does it seem to work okay with PTO driven implements also?
Does it hold the 3PT implements correctly/securely?
Can it take a hydraulic Top-Link?
TIA - Any thoughts you can give me would be appreciated.

Caretaker
Thanks for everyones comments.
A-I love my quick hitch, would not be with out it. In the summer I switch sevaral different impliments when preparing lawns and seeding them. This will be my first year with it, I know it's realllly nice to hook up my 7' rear blade.
B- PTO equipment won't be a problem, I'll post a pic of it and you'll see why.
C-I plan on putting a HYD top link on before spring, just trying to decide what lenth I need.
The most of my equipment I have is land pride. Most of there stuff is compateable to QH the rest is not and like my pulverizer so I made it fit it. different brands of equipment will not have the same mearurements for the 3 point width of height of top pin. So you will need some modifcation on some equipment to make it all work the way you want to. different quick hitch manafatures will also use different measurements, they are not built the same size, they should be, but there not.

I just took my front blade off so I could try the loader. A week ago we had 12" of snow, most we've had at one time in 20 years. I don't use a loader for snow, front and rear blade.
No wax job yet, it's been too cold.

Re: JD 4300 pic\'s

I forgot something. The 2" receiver you saw is my tow bar that is hooked to my quick hitch. I have to move my trailers around several times a week. This makes it much faster than useing my truck. I had a post not long ago in attachments under- tow bar, may be of some interest to you.

Re: JD 4300 pic\'s

DDT,

Thanks for the response. I have a Landpride Scarifier and Landscape Rake/Box Blade set up. The Scarifier allows the rake to be attached to it, a la the quick-tach method. Those implements certainly work okay, but I haven't tried using the scarifier (w/o teeth /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif) as a poor man's quick-tach yet, even though I'd considered it. I'm really interested in a true quick-tach like yours. Guess I'll squeeze the wallet once more and visit my friendly JD/Landpride dealer again.

I saw your pic's of your 2" receiver. Nice setup.

I noticed in your profile that you also have a cement mixer. Is it a 3PT type? May I ask what brand it is, and if you like it? I've looked at the WorkSaver one, which looks pretty solid. No idea of the price of it. I did see that TSC has one for $795, but the spec's are skimpy, so I need to research that one further.

Thanks again,
Dave Wells

Re: JD 4300 pic\'s

Caretaker,
The cement mixer I have is a 1 sack mixer, hyd dump, pto drive, weighs 420 lbs empty, I bought it at a auction for $250. There is no brand name on it, but it is a older unit. I've seen pic's of TSC mixers and I think mine is heaver built comparing to a pic. as long as you don't get the rubber wheel wet (that drives the drum) it works great.
