JD 4310, 430 loader, 48 hoe (info?)

Hello, I've never been around tractors much and not much experience with much more than a riding mower. Just bought 37 acres and needing a compact 4wd and loader, backhoe would be great, but not totally necessary. I am looking at an '03 JD 4310 ehydro, 4wd, 430 loader and 48 backhoe. Less than 200 hrs, looks brand new. Around $20,000. Am I going to regret the hydro when I need(want) more power? Is the 4310 strong enough to really run the hoe? Is the price right? Any comments or ideas?

No, it is plenty, unless you really need to scream up steep hills with a fully loaded bucket. When you are doing loader work, you will be really glad that you have it. LoadMatch alone is worth going that way.

Absolutely. The hoe gets its tstrength from the PSI of the hydraulics. A biigger tractor with a greater rate of flow will work it faster, but not stronger. It should be plenty fast, agin unless you are needing a coomercial tlb.

Considering what you would pay for a 3320/300CX/448, and this is just about new, I'd say it is a very good deal.

I have no regrets with mine.

THanks Rocky, You've about convinced me. Will that rig pull a 5' or 6' brush hog? Do you worry about all the electronic stuff failing in a few years and cost an arm and leg to fix?

I pull a 6' MX cutter. It works great, although I usually suggest the MX5. MX cutters are really heavy. There is no problem pulling a 6' of most any brand.

The electronics are really bullet proof. I have NEVER heard of a failure, and I talk to a lot of techs. The biggest snafu is that there are a couple of wires that can be snagged under and behind the pedals. Skid plates are a good idea if you are gonna be in wild wooly stuff. They are about $325. Even without wires, they would be a good idea.

I feel that the electronics really make these machines. I find them easier to deal with than mechanical controls, and feel that even if they eventually had to be replaced that they are a good idea. But they have been in use for years in construction equipment, I think Deere had a good idea what they were doing putting them here.
