We have a five year old JD 4310 that's had some problems along the way. The transmission was recalled the first year we had it and was replaced.

Today, while clearing brush, it stopped moving. In any of the ranges (ABC), it won't respond to either forward or reverse pedals being depressed. The error code (If I saw it right) is: short-long-short-short

After letting it sit for about an hour, I started it, hit the reverse pedal and it moved about one inch before stopping. I'd appreciate any insight someone might have before the tractor guys come get it next week.

Thanks in advance.

If you were cutting brush, check the bottom to see if any wires are pulled. I would guess you have a connector unplugged or a wire shorted...

Amen and Hallelujah. That seems to have fixed it. Now just to get the tilt wheel working again and to keep the throttle control from sliding down!

Great, glad its running. Put up a post about fixing your throttle control and tilt wheel.. I am sure you are not the only one here to have that issue.

As to your wiring. I would recomend you get some wire ties and the black wire wrap and make sure everything is neatly tucked up. That is the first thing I do with all the new tractors we get. I like ehydro. There are more things that can go wrong, but in most cases the fixes are fairly simple. Plus they give you hints with codes as to what might be wrong.:D

The code is for sensor supply voltage. Where did it come unpugged so I can fix mine before it happens to me!!;) ;) :D :) As for the throttle take off the cover on the right dash and it has a friction nut just tighten. It fixed mine. I also used blue loctite to keep it from backing off. A requirement to keep things tight on the Harley. My tilt need fixed too.

The tilt on the 10 series is junk. The dealer replaced the parts in my 4310 twice before the waranty was up.

Depending on what yours is doing you may need to replace parts.

Even though mine works I do not use the tilt very often. Maybe a couple time a year because I don't want to have to buy new parts. I don't know what they cost but I'm sure they are not cheap.

The 4210 I just bought has the same problem with the tilt, I was going to take the cowling apart near the steering wheel but, if anyone can give me a heads up on fixing it i would appreciate it. It just sticks and I can't move the lever that is supposed to unlock it to make it tilt. I thought it might be rusted or something.

I had this fixed on my 4310 also, the parts/kit was $100 i believe and was not that hard to install.

I know this is an old thread but I need help with tilt on my 4310. After replacing the 2 guides & the latch (all of which are pot metal!) I re-assembled everything but I can't get the steering release lever to re-ingage on the two pins inside. You can't see anything once you put the dash back on. Do you have to be born in there to put it back together?
Thanks
