JD 4310 rockshaft adjustment?

Thanks to this old post. I am confident that what happened to yours is more than likely what is going on with mine. I was all worried about having to tear into the rockshaft and the controller and such. This will be a snap if the same thing is happening (which my adjustment shaft is not having any effect on the positioning).

Now I'm motivated to go fix it. Just wish it wasn't so darn hot.

I am sooooo hoping it is something simple like this.

So I got my seat off and sure enough the spring roll pin (4mm x 22mm) is broken in 3 pieces. I tried to put a 4mm bolt through it but it is too sloppy. My dealer has the .28 cent part. I just need the time to get by there. Was thinking of making a pin out of 17-4 SST and heat treat it to H900. I'd put some small safety wire holes on each end and safety wire it in place. Stronger than a roll pin.

So I put the roll pin in and I still have issues. I had to adjust "D" from post #1 picture all the way in, to keep the rockshaft from rising all the way up and hitting the relief. Now the control of the system is erratic. It is hard to explain but basically all the motion of the rockshaft happens with only about 1/4th movement range of the lever. Like the lever goes from 1 - 6 with 1 being all the way down and 6 being all the way up. All the motion happens from about 4 to 6. If you put the lever to 2, it doesn't allow it to go down until you move it to 4 or 5. I was hoping for something more linear in the action and it's more like exponential action...Still looking at the manual trying to figure out what it could be...
