I'm picking up my new to me JD 4320 this weekend and want to start planning how I want to do my hydraulic upgrades. I will be using a lane shark on it and with that you have to plumb the return into the tractor tank port vs running it back through the valve. When I hooked up the backhoe last weekend I believe it is also plumbed into the tank port to keep from powering the 3pt. Is this the only tank port or is there one somewhere else closer to the front I can tee into? Thanks.

Often times the plumbing would out of one valve (power beyond or PB) and turn into the next valve. If the BH doesn’t have a PB port I’d get a valve for the land shark that does have a PB port. So it would get plumbed into new valve, out of new valve, into BH valve and the return into the tank.

If both valves happen not (unlikely) have a PB port then typically you would just tee the existing return line so both can return. As for other ports- typically the case has a few threaded plugs that could be used for a return.

the Lane Shark just hooks up and gets it power from the grapple hydraulics, they don't recommend using the same return hose to go back through the valve. they recommend running a third hose to the front that flows straight to the case. I believe this is so when the power is stopped, the mower will keep spinning and the motor now acts as a pump pushing the fluid and without the third hose it will be pushing against the valve. with the third hose this fluid now flows to the the tank freely. I am just trying to keep from having to run the hose all the way from the front to the rear of the tractor if there is a port somewhere forward of there to dump into.

Run a hose to the back and connect it to the backhoe return port.

is there any issue in putting a tee back there and having multiple quick connects so they both can return to tank without having to unhook one for the other?

Thanks, I'll bring it home Monday and pull the backhoe off where I can take a closer look at what is the best way to hook everything up. I"m sure I'll have lots more questions when I'm actually in front of it and trying to put it together.
