The knocking noise is probably worn bushings(R45822) in the main hyd pump coupler.

I had the same problem, and it had to do with a posting about a Deere 820 in the Ag Forum. Turned out it was the 820 CUT, not the big 820 2 cyl diesel. Took awhile to figure that out, but initially a bit misleading. But it happens.
