I just purchased a JD 4410 and am really happy with it. I have one question regarding the throttle position. Is it normal for the throttle to back off a little? When I set it at max throttle 540 for using tiller or mower attachment, it does not stay in this position and I have to keep pushing it up to maintain the RPM.

Any help?

I have a 4310,hst.430fel and the throttle lever has never
backed off on mine. The lever moves very firm.I'm not sure
if you can tighten it up to give more resistance. Are you happy
with the 4410's power? How about climbing hills?I think the
4410 and 4310 have the same engines except for different
fuel pump settings to give the 4410 a couple more horses

"Is it normal for the throttle to back off a little?"

Have you looked in your operator's manual concerning adjusting the throttle? On my 670, one can adjust the lever friction to tighten this up. It's in the "As Required" maintenance section.

I am very happy with the power on the 4410. I have very steep hills and I can manage a brush hog with no problem in 4WD. I think the engine is bored slightly larger on the 4410 and I have noticed a difference from testing the 4310.

So far (only 9 hours) I am very very happy with it. The JD tiller is especially nice.

According to the JD sales catalog the 4310 and 4410 both
have a 92 cu.in. engine....maybe the catalog is wrong?
Is your 4410 a hst? Mine just seems to rob alot of power
go up hills and it doesn't matter much if the 72"MMM is
running or not.The load match feature helps out a bunch.
I noticed tonight the inside of my left front wheel is black
from exhaust.....I wonder if anybody has come up with
a nice looking chrome extension to devert the smoke away
from the wheel???

The throttle on my 4300 tended to creep down a little when I first got it. I tightened up the pivot bolt on the throttle a bit and have not had any more problems. I did have to pull the dash cover up a bit in order to get some wrenches in there. Good luck.

That sales catalog must have a typo. The JD web site shows the 4410 with a 101 CID engine, while the 4310 has the 92 CID version.

If you have a lot of black smoke coming out the exhaust you are putting to much load on tour engine.
