I've recently purchased a used JD 445 tractor and so far, I'm very pleased with it. It's in great shape with low hours. I've recently added a 3pt hitch to it. I'd like to add a power bagger system (compact style that attaches to the mower), a rear pto kit and category 1 3 pt hitch implements, such as a core aerator and dethatcher. Can anyone tell me what some good sources are to purchase these items new or used, that are alternatives to the JD dealer(s) and eBay?

Check out your local (if you have one) Tractor Supply Co. and give a look at the King Kutter XB series attachments. They are Cat 1 but are designed for subcompacts and large garden tractors like the 445.
You can still get a PTO kit from JD, but it will be expensive. If you're diligent, you can find one from time to time on that auction site. What year and how many hours are on your machine?

JohnSinVA, thanks for the idea. I'm also in VA and we have several TSCs in this area. I'll check them out. My 445 is a 2001 model with 375 hours on it, 54" deck.
Still leaves the rear PTO kit and hook-to-the-tractor JD bagging system. Seems as though these are hard to find NOS and are expensive, due to the green paint, I guess.

atomicDog - I have a powerflo bagger that came with my 445 when I bought it, but I don't have a need for it. I'd be happy to sell it, but shipping will be a pain - where are you located?
I bought the tractor last may with 340 hours on it. It is 2002 model year, the last year for them. The bagging unit needs a new bag, but everything else is there. You will need the external pulley for the belt drive on the right side of your deck if you buy one of these units used.

Keep an eye on the For Sale forums at WeekendFreedomMachines. There was a PTO posted there very recently, but you have to be quick since it was spoken for very soon afterward, at a price that wasn't much less than full retail.
Register at JDParts.com and you can search dealer inventories. The PTO kits should still be available. You could also try getting one through dealers of other makes, I believe Simplicity and maybe Toro also, used the TuffTorq K91 transaxle for their big garden tractors.
While you're at it, you might as well get all the parts for your 400 hour service (if you plan on doing it yourself). They have a box kit for the engine services (with oil and filter, air filter, breather element, and spark plugs) but you'll also need a new tranny filter and two gallons of tranny oil, plus a grease gun and tube of grease if you don't have them already. I just finished mine up and it was pretty easy to do.
