My neighbor to the right has been baling with a JD 447 since it was new (2001). He bales about 400 rolls a year. He has never put a bearing it, and only replaced the belts once. My neighbor to the right has a (2002) Vermeer 5400, and also bales about 400 rolls a year. He has put 5 bearings in that baler and one set of belts. Of course I would imagine Vermeer parts are cheaper.

Just my two cents.

I have a 5+ year old 5400 and have replaced 2 bearings. Probably rolled about 2500 rolls. Other than that I have not done anything other than normal lubing.
