2200 hours on a John Deere 455 (23?hp diesel) with 60" mowing deck. Engine runs great. Hydrostatic transmission makes gear grinding noises under load. Slips, grinds so much that it won't go forward when under a big load. Not an emergency as I don't use it anymore, but trying to figure out how to get the most cash for it. Options as I see it: 1) buy new trans and replace, then sell complete tractor. But how much is the new trans?? 2) buy used, if possible, trans and replace, then sell complete tractor 3) sell tractor as is and let someone else replace trans.
Don't really know the market value of this tractor as is or with working trans, nor do I know price of used or new trans, so would appreciate thoughts.
Thanks in advance,
Butch
