I just bought a 1998 JD 4600 with a 460 loader on it. Has R4 industrial tires. I have noticed that the tractor steers tight enough that the RF tire will rub on the loader hydraulic hoses. By itself it doesn稚 seem to hurt much at this point but I just got a set of tire chains for it (steep driveway to plow) and I don稚 want to rip a hydraulic hose if I catch it with a chain. Are these supposed to have some sort of steering stop? The hoses could be tied up a little, but they come straight off the solid metal hoses with quick connects, no give there. Anybody else have this issue?

Tie the hoses back or re-route them to avoid the conflict. Also can add some 45 deg fittings to re-route.

Example of one hose re-routed with 45 deg connector on my 4300 to keep from contacting front tire when chained up.

Same problem on my 2008 3320. I hate it. I always worry about the winter chains catching and ripping the hose ... but they never do. I do keep my eye on it pretty much every time I cut hard right though.

I bundled the hoses w cable ties and bear with it; I suppose if I were more industrious and thought it was a bigger problem I’d build the shield that Deere should have built in the first place. Relocating the bundle, which is the other thing Deere should have done, would also be a pain.

FWIW, the hose routing on the chassis always seemed to me to be an afterthought, like they designed the tractor as a mower and adapted the FEL after the fact. I have auxiliary hydraulics up front that the dealer added for a grapple and it’s a similarly silly arrangement. Oh well.

Angled fittings, that might work!

Put the wheels on in the wide setting.

Can also just put hose wrap on the hoses for now to help protect against rubbing, then do the actual routing modifications when warm weather returns

Make up a short piece of hydro line for each line. Add it to the lines that you have and zip tie them out of the way. The 45 angles would be helpful but not required.

I have a 2000 JD 4600 and the hydraulic lines are zip tied at the top of the loader (to the back). This works great and there is no issue with the tires and hoses rubbing together.
