JD 468

Still shopping around for a round baler and have run across a JD 468 with the mega wide pickup and net wrap. It has around 3000 bales on it and supposedly was purchased new in May 2007. Are there any known problem areas with these balers?

All I have heard about the 468 is good except the optional chain luber. Each time the gate is opened - it lubes the chains. That is fine, except it is way over lubing them and it turns into a big mess.

A 1 yr old 468 just went on e-bay for $20,200 or so.

I picked up a JD 467 with 1400 bales, megawide and coveredge for $22K. it looks like new.

Have you found a baler yet?

Still looking. I was bidding on the 468 on ebay. Walked in the house 5 minutes too late to bid on that one. My local dealer has one just like it for $27K. They have a 467 with 9600 bales on it for $21.5K,, I would say you got a deal.
This morning I went to look at a baler and may have found a good one. A New Holland 658, twine and net with about 3000 bales on it. They think it is a 2001 model. Was just traded in for a JD 468 and is still dirty. Looks to have been stored under cover, but has some sun fading on one side. That and a couple of teeth missing in the pickup are about the only things I could find fault with on it. It is a lot cheaper than the JD 467 I originally stopped to look at. Anybody have any experience with one of these????????????

THat is way too high. I had a chance to get a 467 megawidth with coveredge with 14,000 bales thru it for $13K or so. It looked kinda rough and they weren't doing all the maintenance. I passed on it.,

I think I did pretty good. Worse case if it is junk - I should not be upside down in it.
