I have an older JD855 tractor. JD front mount snow blowers are hard to find and harder to find the correct mounting hardware.

I have the CORRECT mounting hardware where I can get my hands on it in a minute or less...........

Now the problem.......
The 59" snow blower body are few and expensive..... But I know they will bolt up to the brackets no problem.

The 47" blower is also listed as an option for that size tractor. Problem is I think there are several versions of the 47" blower. That is the blower part may be the same on all, but the brackets welded to the rear of the blower may be different for the ZTR type machines, X series lawn tractors, or newer model tractors about 30hp or less.

I know there are more than one 47" snow blower serial number prefixes to these implements............

I need to know what blower body matches up with my mounting hardware.

Local JD dealer is ag oriented and NO HELP with CUT or SCUT questions.

Anyone with solid info ?
Thanks

I have a 47" blower on my 4110. I don't know what your hardware looks like, but I can take a few pics of how mine attaches if that would help. Actually, the blower does not "bolt" up to the attaching hardware--it is a pin type set up.

A bit off-topic, perhaps, but...

Recently bought a 1026R with 47" snow blower. Unit comes with one drift-cutter, where brochure shows two. Called dealer to see if they'd forgotten to install it; he said they all come like that. Looked again at manual, which states that for these small tractors, users should install "one drift blade on right side of housing only."

Can anyone explain this? Seems odd.

Thanks-

I can only assume that they are thinking you would blow a path down the center first. Then alternate sides to the outside edge of the driveway on both sides.

So the next cut is always on the side with the drift cutter......

???????

I kind of assumed that too. But why would the single-cutter instruction only apply to 2210, 2305, 1023E and 1026R? "All other tractors: install drift blade on both sides of housing." Something to do with power, mechanical interference, visibility?

I have to clear several hundred feet of paths at just one snowblower-width (a main reason that I traded down to the narrow 1026R), and having both cutters installed would help with deep drifts. I could buy another, but want to make sure it won't cause some kind of problem. Guess I'll write to JD.

buckaroo,
you need the older 47 in blower with the
gearbox on the back instead of the chain drive.
they are not the quick hitch blowers, and have the
same mounting holes as the 59 blowers.

there are 2 varieties of these 47 blowers also,
ones for tractor mount, and ones for front mount
mowers. they modified the gearboxes to make them
fit the different power units, depending on the
pto rotations. front mount mower pto's turn in the
opposite of our normal cuts.

they also used those blowers on old 400/420/430 and
occasionally the 318. the blower head should be
the same, with the different lift parts and drive
shaft etc. this pic shows the lift arms that are used
on the 855

Weirder and weirder - JD help line says:

"Our available resources do not provide information regarding a reason that for not being able to attach two front blades. Given the technical nature of your inquiry, we recommend that you contact your local John Deere dealer for assistance. Our dealers are specially trained in the area of technical support and are as they are most familiar with the the capability of the equipment, they have the expertise to determine the possibility of attaching two blades and if this modification will affect your warranty."

Dealer didn't know. At least now I'm warned that using two drift cutters (the norm on any snowblower I've ever used) may void the warranty.

Oh, well.

You might try searchtempest.com to see if you can find a nice photo of a 47" blower that fits your series machine.
