I have read many posts here and some are similar but not quite. I have a JD 4720Cab HST. Yesterday I had been mowing for about 30 min. (I love when the strawberry farmers plant and Dump what seems like millions of gallons of water to run-off on to my palm tree fields). I shut off the PTO and started to turn around and my tractor when it died, I think I did'nt hace rpm's high enough for the field conditions (Thanks berry farmers). When I tried to restart I would only hear either a load click or a series of clicks. I thought battery. Almost a year ago I had a hip replacement and did'nt start the tractor for about 3 months. The cells had gone quite down on water. So I filled with distilled and slow charged overnight. It had been starting fine until yesterday. After testing at parts store I got a new battery. Same symptoms. I should have had the battery tested at the parts store but it being new I figured that wouldn't be an issue. We put the charger / starter back on it and when turned to run the A/C blower would run but if turned to start just the click or nothing. When turned back to run from start the blower would not run. Turn to off and wait maybe a minute and same thing. If the charger is set to 2 amps it will show charge but if turned to 20 amp after reaching it the display shows OL (overload). Disconnected the negative cable, placed charger leads on battery and it will charge at either. Connect charger to battery positive w/cable on it and to disconnected negative cable or to body ground and nothing. PTO is off, fuses look fine, rearranged relays, seat switch should not matter. Is there a fusable link to the starter? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Gene
