Does anyone have any info about the difference between the old and new backhoes. Is it worth $2,000 to go for the 448 aver a 48?

Can you even find a 48? I believe it has been discontinued. I have a 48 which I bought just about the time the 448 was coming out. Personally, I did not like the curvy design of the 448, though it apparently is as strong or stronger than the old fashioned straightlined 48. The 48 frame components are stamped "USA". The 448 frame is stamped "China". Now of course, that isn't supposed to matter, but it does to me.

The JD dealer in town has about 7 of them in his warehouse...but won't give a decent enough discount for anyone to buy them off his hands

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. You'll be very happy with a 48, if you can find one. I have done some amazing work with mine. It is incredibly easy to mount and dismount and does everything I have ever asked it to do.

Yeah, I was playing around with the Configurator today and discovered that the 48 is still current for the 5000 series. There must be some sort of change which makes the 448 incompatible with the 5000's.
