Does a JD 50 have a hand clutch and if so, which side is it on? Apparently we had one before I was born and my mother said she used to get a knot in her arm because the hand clutch was never in adjustment. She thinks it was a JD 50, but isn't sure. If someone knows of a picture that shows the hand clutch placement, I'd appreciate a link.

Thanks,
Cliff

Yes, it had a hand clutch and it was on the right side opposite the flywheel.

Poke around here to possibly find what you are looking for.

Go to the "early number" pics, and click on the 60 or 70 to see the hand clutch lever on the right side with the yellow seat in the background.

I've found the hand clutch on my 50' JD-B to be real straight forward about adjusting. Must just have never been adjusted correctly..

Thanks guys. I'll see if I can find a photo on that web site. Actually, it's a pretty interesting site in its own right.
