Just put a kit by Pertronix
in my A John Deere. Also my 40 John Deere. I stock them in my store. Just need to know if your tractor is 6 or 12 volt and positive or negative ground. 319-837-6191 for more info.

Pertronix is the kit to buy. Buy it wherever, but buy that brand.

buick... meaning you don't think it can be 6V or that you just have never seen one...??

A 50 was 12V from the factory. No exceptions.

tractordata shows 2 6volt batteries. But also that starter volts was 12V
Have to admit, I don't recall even tho I grew up in Waterloo, IA and drove one of the first model 50's Deere made (that power steering was a dream come true ). Not as powerful as the model G I drove, but much easier to handle.
