JD 500C smoking / misting hydraulic leak?

Hi folks, very new and inexperienced back hoe owner here. I just bought a vintage JD 500C and I noticed some liquid dropping from the hoe joint (boom and stick?). Here's a video I shot. I'm thinking a leaky hose. You can see what almost looks like smoke and even a drip of fluid. Any ideas?

Mist is hyd. fluid under very high pressure. Stay away from this as it can be injected threw your skin. Never put your hand near this stuff. A real mechanic would use a piece of cardboard to determine where the leak was coming from. Appears a hose runs through the dipper stick and is attached to the cylinder controlling the bucket. If you are new set the bucket on the ground and get help. Not a good project to learn on. Get help. Hyd. oil under the skin has to be removed by a Doctor cutting it out.

This advice from 2458n is absolutely the correct approach to your situation.

Get help.

By all means watch and learn while your chosen Technician replaces the leaking hose/joint.

BUT do not put your hand or face near (to look at, or feel) the source of that 'mist'.

Park it with the bucket on the ground. Tag it 'Out of Service' and make a phone call to your local hydraulic hose repair agent.

Thanks folks. I did the research and avoided the area. I have found the leak however, you can see it spraying out of the hose. So I know exactly which hose it is. Repair man is coming this week to replace that one and several other that look to be in bad shape. I should be up and running soon

Now if I can just find an electrical diagram for that old 500C maybe I can get the instruments/gauges working.
