JD 503 Rotary Cutter

I recently picked a JD 950 for food plots. I have been looking at used rotary cutters and ran across a nice JD 503 cutter. Can anyone tell me anything about this cutter? Does this cutter have a single blade? What happens if I hit a stump with this cutter? I don't want to tear up the tractor and I'm not sure if this cutter is the right one for me.

Most 503 cutters had a slip clutch...just adjust it so that it works...

The 503 should be just like any other rotary cutters in that it has a center carrier or stump jumper, and TWO swinging blades attached with large bolts.

The 503 is a pretty light duty cutter. I wouldnt make a habit of banging it off stumps and getting into thick brush and saplings. Stick to grasses and weeds and it should last a long time
