JD 5210 milky hydraulic fluid

I have drained all fluid, changed filter, cleaned strainer. Put in new hydraulic fluid twice. within 2 weeks fluid is tan colored/milky. First time it was foamy and tan. Seems like water may be entering the picture but I can't figure out how or where. Anyone had this issue?

I would recommend keeping a tarp on it if left outside.

Have a look at the tractor and see if you can't spot where the water is coming in. Gear shift or pto levers. Is it running down the levers and following the linkage to the transmission case. Are the boots around the levers in good shape?

Thanks for the responses. After reading these threads I inspected the boots on the shifter and indeed both are cracked and worn. A tarp sounds like a good quick fix for now but I will invest in new covers also.

I THINK that there is a version of "seafoam" made for getting water out of trans/hydro fluid. Once you get your boots fixed it may help- it can be tough to drain all the water out!

Also, invert a bucket over the shift levers, at least till you change the boots.

Also be sure the breather on the hyd reservoir is open IE not plugged so condensation can evaporate when hyd oil reaches operating temp..
