I just got a quote of $33,500 for a 5325 with 542 FEL NSL, power reverser, economy PTO, straddle mount, and Ag tires. He said they didn't have any 5425's and probably wouldn't get any more since none where being made anymore. Said that they would have a new designation when they sent the new ones. Anybody know of a dealer in the south that has new 5425's Every used one I see costs as much as a new one.

I saw some on my dealer's lot in Ennis, Texas.

The 5425 is physically larger than the 5325.

I assume that is 2wd for that price.

That was for a MFWD. The 5325 and 5425 are the same frame and chassis. The engine is diff. and the length is longer on the 5425 because the bracket that holds the weights on the front sticks out further. At least that is what they told me. the specs show the height being higher on the 5425 because the stock tires are different.

That's right at the price I was quoted for the same machine. I forgot to ask if it had economy PTO. This one has 2 rear remotes and I am paying a handsome price to get a third installed.

Price I received was for cash price.

You are right. All the 5X25 I looked at used were no bargain. Most of the ones I found were up Nawth. Saw a couple in Georgia and couple in Florida. Wasn't about to try those deals long distance deals so don't have a clue how firm those prices are.

Don't know where you are in the South. Its a big space.

Well, that seems like a good price. I am paying that much for a 4520 cab. My wife prefers the e-hydro trans.

Look on page 13 of the 5025 series brochure. It shows the dimensions of the different models and the 5325 appears to be smaller.

What I pulled off the specs on the JD site:

wheelbase front axle clearance ship weight tires

5325 85.7 16.9 6030 9.5/24 14.9/28
5425 85.7 17.7 6470 11.2/24 16.9/30

Have yet to see the two models sitting side by side. The 5425 I looked at had a cab. the
5325 no cab--250 miles and several weeks apart. My mind tells me the 5425 was much bigger but the cab fools you.

You can tell the difference when they are sitting next to each other. The 5325 is a very nice machine. If it is not much more money for a 5424 you might want to consider it.

The clearance and height difference is in the height of the tires. The wheel base is the same. Side by side they look smaller due to the tire size being smaller on the 5325. If you go to firestone website and look at the different tire size you will notice the height diff. between the sizes.

**** - it sure makes a difference.

BTW Mr. Divinia I noticed you had a 5525 on your sig. line and I was wondering what kind of fuel economy you get out of it mowing? I looked at the spec. and it was saying 5.1 GPH and I was wondering if that was pretty accurate for normal use or is that when it is wide open.

Thanks,

Dusty

That is a good question. Hum - I fill from a farm tank, so it is hard to tell how much I put in. The tank is 33.5 Gal. I can run right at 8 hours running full tilt with a 10'6" disc mower which really works the PTO and it will use almost a full tank.

I can run my 467 round baler all day on less than a tank of fuel and that is 65hp.

By far the highest burn rate is running my Krone AM323S disc mower in a caddy. That seems to be my worse case with my equipment. Thinking more about it, I mowed 100 acres the other day with it. It took like 14-16 hours. That burned 1.5 tanks.

I will keep better notes next time. I always say I am going to do it, but I never do. I never felt like I needed a bigger tank until I got this disc cutter. It uses way more fuel than a 15' batwing.

We actually ordered a 5325 but wound up with a 5425 instead. We felt more secure with the history of the motor in the 5425. The price you have quoted for the 5325 is decent. The problems we ran into with trying to buy a 5325 was nobody had one, we would have had to wait almost 4 months to get one, and used ones cost as much as new ones.

Good luck with your search!

fuel usage in GPH on JD site is .72 gal per hr more for 5425 than the 5325. I don't know if that is average usage or heavy usage or what.

Seems like the 54 is 3,000 t0 3,500 dollars more than the 5325 if I remember right.

Good point about the motor history of the 5425. My choice of the 5325 concerns me a bit for that reason.

Choices, choices, choices. Was it the model T that Ford gave you a choice of color in black, black, or black?? There's so many tractors to pick from, its hard to decide. But that makes it fun.

Type of work makes a huge difference in fuel consumption. None PTO activities (front end loader work, some box blading, etc) I thought my fuel gauge was broken. Hook up a 15' batwing or even worse the 10'6" disc mower and the consumption goes way up.

Dirty Dusty. Your 33,500 appears to be an even 1000 bucks less than what I paid for what appears to be the same tractor--I bought it on 8/28. Mine had 2 rear remotes--I figure yours did too. I have seen a couple of 5425 here in West Texas--had cabs and don't have a clue about the price. The dealer I saw them at I have not been able to get any quotes other than JD retail--same as the web site.
