Prolly no way to state how often, unless the conditions running in were known. As well, the condition of the engine at 1000 hours.
Only could suggest that go with the best guess of the operator... and what feels good.
The alternative is to wait until something bad happens, then it be too late.

Operators manual says every 1000 hours

I would clean the sump screen anytime I drained the hydro oil for any reason.
