JD 6110 reverser quits working when engine warms up

16 sp/ right hand reverser. When operating tractor for long periods like mowing hay or baling, as long as you don't stop, you're ok. You can stop with clutch and then go, but if you stop and put in neutral, it won't go forward or reverse until tractor cools down a little, then it's good to go unless you stop and put it neutral again. It's been doing this for a couple of years but it's getting worse. Tried to mow some hay today and after about an hour it did it. The tractor is running in the green, but almost in the red. The tractor does get hot and I have to turn the a/c off sometimes, but that's another problem. The other day I was baling some really heavy windrows and had to back up a lot and it was giving me fits. I don't think it's a wiring problem, because the only time it will f up is when the tractor has been running for an extended period. Any ideas?

Does it set any trouble codes?
Do you have MFWD? If so, is it in use when the problem occurs? The reason I ask is maybe there is an internal leak for that system's hydraulics causing the hydraulic oil to heat up. PTO system hydraulics might be the cause too if there is an internal leak that heats up the oil.
Have you checked the clutch system pressures? The is a test port marked "Clutch" With the pedal "UP" you should have 170psi. With it down 0psi.

When you say right hand reverser, that means you have lever in right console with Park, forward and reverse? If so, there is no electrical control to keep transmission from driving. There must be a shift valve sticking when hot. May need to remove valve body from bottom of transmission and check valves.

Yes it is on the console, i will ck the bottom of the trans.
i was baling today and it was doing it again. I'm thinking it may be the hyd fluid getting hot and causing the prob. The tractor overheats when i'm running the a/c and that may be part of the problem.

I don't have mfwd and my dash is inop, only thing that works is the rpm and the trouble lights.

Good morning, I know this is an old post but my neighbor has a 6110 that's having the same problem. Did you figure out what was causing your problem? If so, what was it? Thanks
