I have been finding a big puddle of oil under the rear end of the tractor lately. It seems that the Stupid tiny bottle that is supposed to catch the droplets of oil that are lost when you plug or unplug a coupler is FULL and over flowing!
So where is this AMOUNT of oil coming from, to create a big puddle in such short time?
I have my rear snow blower on with the hydraulic chute control so I am using one SCV.
I started looking at the SCVs closely. There is a pipe barb in four places on each coupler. Front and back, upward and downward. The upward ones are just to accomodate the top SCV, I believe. Some have hoses going to that tiny bottle, some have nothing.
So my question is:
What is the purpose of the drain barb, front AND back on the SCVs?
The tractor has over a thousand hours and is a 96 model. Are there parts or seals in the SCV that get old, worn and fail? Actually when I think about, I bought that SCV spool used so I really don't know how old it is. But I would think that most of the oil would be lost when I operate the SCV not sitting in the barn.
At first I thought maybe my loader circuit was leaking and if it wasn't lowered completely to relieve pressure this would account for the puddle while parked, but I don't think this is the case after seeing the bottle overflowing.
Thanks for any help.
