OK, here's another question for you JD Gurus. I have a nice old JD 650 with the smaller #60 Loader. Should the 60 be able to lift the front of the tractor? I don't seem to have any down pressure at all. When curving the bucket, the front end will lift, but when back scraping, the bucket will free float. Any Clues? Or is the 60 loader just too wimpy?

Are your cylinders bottomed out? Try with bucket in dumped position? Are your lift cylinders double acting or single?

You should, try replacing the fluid, screen and filter. You could also have a tired pump or leaky internals in one or both cylinders

Two hoses going to each lift cylinder or just 1?

As asked already, are they cylinders just bottomed out? Try to lift the front by dumping the bucket.

Quota; When curving the bucket, the front end will lift, but when back scraping, the bucket will free float.

Is it just the bucket flopping when back dragging or the boom floating? With you being able to lift the front, then it has psi. You have to be sure you are not pushing the lever to far when back drigging and pushing it into float. Should be able to feel a detent when going into float. When bucket is level you might not be able to lift the wheels off the ground because you might run out of cyl. travel.

H800, There is an inlet and an outlet hose at the top and bottom of both the lift arm cylinders and the bucket cylinders. No external leaks. No problem lifting to max height, a full bucket of gravel. Just not enough down pressure to lift the front end.

LEEJOHN, I don't notice any detent position when moving the levers forward or back. With the lift arms all the way down, the bucket curl will lift the front end, But I cannot lift the front end with the bucket in the dump position and then moving the lift arms all the way down. Only the bucket floats when back dragging. I have seen the 650 equipped with the 67 loader lift the tractor easily, on you tube. Just don't know if the 60 loader on my tractor has the power.

I'm wondering if the detent in the control valve is not functioning at all and you don't realize it's going into the "float" position.
Sounds like you have plenty of hydraulic pressure. Don't forget to visit a dealer's service department too. That's what they're there for.

The boom is what should be floating. Check and make sure the plumbing is right. Sounds like you have the boom and bucket mixed up.

Thanks for all the advice boys. Oldtink, I'm just a poor old country boy that shudders at the thought of paying a dealer for what is right here at my finger tips in the wealth of knowledge from TBN. I will investigate the possible detent problem. Thanks again.
