Backhoe JD #7 Backhoe Serial # Location?

Hi, new member here. I just acquired a JD 750 with a JD #7 backhoe and was trying to get a manual from JD. It seems there are two, depending on the serial number. I looked all over but can't seem to find one. Can anyone tell me where to look for it?

I thought it was on the boom...what did your local JD dealer say?

I'll check tonight when I get home, unless someone else posts between now and then. I don't recall that it is on the boom, I'm thinking somewhere on the main frame that holds the swing and operators platform.

JD says the location is in the operators manual...

I found a manual for sale dated 1991 that was for the early set of serial numbers. Since my tractor is dated 1987, I assumed that this was likely the correct manual and ordered it. Hopefully, the manual will help me verify that I made the correct choice.

The ID tag is supposed to be located down on the side plate of the swivel area at the swing frame. I say supposed to because mine does not have one. As far as the owners manual is concerned I bought one on e-bay pretty cheap. It was for a 750 and they seem to be readily available. It has some basic info but not a lot of details which is good for a guy like me who suffers from short term memory loss. If you find one for a 770 I will trade you.

Checked mine tonight and as Whitey said the ID tag is on the main frame. If you are behind the tractor/backhoe it is on the right side, between the boom swing pivot and the RH stabilizer pivot, down low. Two rivets, so if you don't find the tag look for rivet holes where it may have been. I have the operators manual, parts manual and hydraulics manual to cover if you have any questions.
