Price Check JD 750 4x4 W/loader and attatchments.

Hi, all. I'm looking at a JD 750 4x4 with a rebuilt front end, loader, 9"auger, 40" Howard tiller, and a 4' mower for 10500. Good deal?

Also, I've got 5 acres of kinda land that was pretty much clear cut about 20 years ago, so I'm working with old-growth scotch broom, vine maple, and blackberries. I've got flat land and some landings in there somewhere, as well as logging roads. I'm slowly clearing and planting apple trees, and then wanting to mow.....

Right rig? I've got a small budget for this-I'm a wildland firefighter and father of three.

That seems overpriced. I used to have a 750. While it was a reliable tractor, for what you described, a 850 or 950 would be a better match.

So what would all that be worth, in your opinion? Also, do you think it would just not be powerful enough?

Welcome.
I think the 750 might be a little light for what you have to tackle / maintain.

10,500 is a little high for that tractor IMO, a 20 plus year old small tractor.

Attached is an example I found quick in my area. No FEL, but maybe a better idea of how much tractor you can buy for close to that amount of money.

35 Plus HP and a little more heft would be of benefit to you in trying to clear off some cutover. Just keep looking a little more before you leap.

On your other question on what it is worth for the tractor you are looking at I'd say closer to $7,000 for tractor - $8,000 tops for the whole package of tractor and implements.

Okay, that's pretty much what I'm thinking. Now I've got an 855 4x4 that I'm looking at. He wants 10500 as well, and I get an auger tiller and trailer. What do you think? He doesn't want to go down on the price, and I'm not sure if this is good. Seems a bit more powerful, and it's a 97, so that's good too. It started right up, loader worked, etc etc....but I'd still need a mower. I've also got pretty tight space here so something 35hp+(besides being out of my price range) is also a bit big.

I'd replied to your other post, but I missed the sentence about this tractor having a loader...sorry about that!
As far as the mower, the 855's 20 PTO HP can easily handle a 60" rear finishing mower and that size isn't hard to find used on Craigslist.
You could also add a 60" mid-mount mower, but the required brackets might be tough to find (unless the MMM you buy is off an 855). Of course, the 855 would have to have the mid-PTO.
And I will reiterate...the 855's are very good and very popular tractors. $10.5K is not unreasonable...
