Anyone know of an engine cross reference list for
John Deere engine # to corresponding Yanmar #'s.

Also, does anyone know if another engine with a little
more power can be mated to 750 housing?

John Deere wants an open checkbook to start looking at
my engine, and I was hoping I could find a replacement
new or possibly low hour engine. Thanks. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

There should be a Yanmar nameplate somewhere on your engine that will give you the Yanmar model number of your engine (somewhere near the top if I remember correctly). Take a look and go from there.
Can your existing engine by rebuilt by a diesel repair shop? This may be your cheapest way out.

Dad and I just bought a JD750 to aid our YM 3000 on mowing jobs and its has a new engine in it. Its a Yanmar engine but its still the light green like our 3000's engine and drive train Ill look tomorrow and see what engine it is. Id try to have mine rebuilts whats the matter with it a knock, rattle orr has it totally puked. I spent a few days last week changingthemotor out in the scraper at work. Ill rebuild the old one for a spare this winter.

If anyone can help you locate an engine, it will be Len Sheaffer who specializes in Yanmars and gray market tractors. US Yanmars and gray Yanmars that is. John sheaftractor@coiinc.com

Thanks for the replies so far.

My engine loses power after it warms up (won't mow tall grass & weeds with brush hog without bogging down). It makes a 'popping sound' that reminds me of the early john deeres. The local dealer wants to start replacing parts & charging labor until 'it is fixed'. I'd rather spend my money on something that should be a better fix long term... like a new engine.

I also tried to contact John Sheaffer via the email link but his email hosts rejects my email. Does anyone have his phone # & or address.

Thanks

Thanks to those that replied....

I didn't expect a miracle.... after reading about the new government mandated diesel fuels and also about additives that increase lubricity & replace aromatics.... I switched diesel suppliers and started using an additive. I'm on my third tank full now and the engine seems to have a new life.

It is definitely a lot stronger & the 'popping' sound under load is going away.

It is able 'brush hog' bermuda about a foot high & thick. When I first posed my question it wouldn't do that anymore.

Thanks again.
