JD 770 just stopped

Started my 770 yesterday. Hadn't run it in about 6 weeks. Battery was dead. Had to jump it off of the truck. All went well then...pow...just stopped running. I had it in neutral to start to bypass the seat safety switch. Ran for probably 10-15 seconds. Didn't sputter, just stopped running, kind of like when you get up off the seat when in gear. If I remember right, I had just unhooked the jumper cables from the truck, and I might have just sat down in the seat. Would still turn over, just wouldn't start. If it was a safety switch problem, I don't think it would turn over. Filled the diesel up to the neck. Any suggestions?

I don't know much about the configuration of a 770 but I would check/change the oil and air filter.

Check/replace the fuel filter.

On my 870 the PTO can be somewhat sensitive.

tpstall, if there is not enough battery power it will cause the fuel shut off selonoid to close and shut off the fuel. You can check this real easy by locating the selonoid and seeing if when you turn on the key if it snaps open. If it does not then you probably just need a new battery. You can also try holding the selonoid in the open position wit your hand and cranking the tractor. It should start. After it starts it may make enough juice to keep it open and keep running or it may not a quit again.

Thanks a ton for the replies. Going to get an new air filter (just did the oil recently), already tried the fuel filter, PTO I think is OK, and the silenoid thing sounds like it could be the kicker. I never would have thought. I'll post results. Thats again for everyones help.
