Ford 1220, John Deere 770, Case 580E and Allmand TLB-35
Used 1994, 1179 hours, 4WD, turfs, model 70 loader, 60" MMM and 48" yard rake. Fresh fluid and filter change, includes 1 set of filters, 6 quarts oil and spare mower blades and belt. All owner's manuals, original receipts and repair receipts. I was offered this machine for $8500.00 which seems to be reasonable. Checked machinerytrader.com and JD.com What are your opinions?

Seems pretty reasonable.

Have you had a chance to review the receipts? I'd check the repair ones in particular to see if it's had any issues. The other receipts should show maintenance history as well.

Sorry, bad wording on my part. The only actual "repair" was to check for a clutch malfunction. All of the other receipts were for fluid and filter changes and one for a injector pump timing check. All seemingly reasonable maintenance items and all from the same dealer. Am going to stop on the way home and ask if I can get a peek at their history file. The owner already gave their permision, actually suggested I might want to check! I have no real qualms or concerns about the machine's history, just don't know why I need (want) another tractor. Other than the fact that it might be too good of deal to pass on.

Of course you need another tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

You'll find the 770 isn't as fancy as some newer models but it is built like a tank. I've had only very minor issues with mine.

I had mine out yesterday moving (literally) tons of dirt for the neighbor. A full bucket load out front and dragging as much as I could carry in a 6' box blade behind.

I can think of 2 things I would change (or would recommend).
Both are related to FEL work.
1. I've bent my bucket up pretty bad. A tooth bar would help a lot.
2. The front tires get close to flat when you have the bucket heavily loaded (overflowing with nice wet clay). Either keep the pressure up kind of high or get them foam filled.

Checked dealer file, no surprises found. Semi-good news, all four tires were foam filled before delivery. Was off Friday, so went back to look at tractor one more time before making a decision. The owner dropped the price a tad so, it's got a new home. Used it Friday to spread 20 yards of leaf-gro around. Not enough weight to matter, very light material. Gear shift, no shuttle, no hydro and the hand throttle is closer to where I'm used to having a loader stick.
I forgot to tell the wife I got another toy. She saw the machine and thought it was my buddies 4300 (well, they are both green). So I said no, I bought it . Her reply, "good, it looks alot nicer and better than that blue one, you should keep this one."

Enjoy!!!

I'm surprised they foam filled the rears instead of a liquid ballast.

If you're kind of a big guy, watch your right leg hitting the loader control arm. My dad is a big guy and he was constantly hitting it and dumping the bucket. I personally like where the loader control is.

As for no shuttle, I've found I can shift quickly (and no grinding) with no problem.

I like the response from the wife.

A little late but, I got a picture of the new to me. Supposedly the bad thing about foam fill is if you ever have to replace the rubber. It all has to be cut away from the wheel. Don't anticipate having to do that any time soon, so no big deal.
The wife is all for me getting new toys as long as I don't expect her to use them. I think it's a pretty good trade-off.
