JD 790 Hood Release does not lock the hood

The hood latch on my JD 790 won't keep the hood locked. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Attached is a (sideways) pic of the latching mechanism.

Have you checked for an obstruction in the hood latch area? Spring loaded latch looks fairly simple in parts photo.

It may not be shutting far enough to latch. Make sure there aren't any obstructions as Jim mentioned. If clear, you may have to lower the rubber bumpers. Fortunately, at most tractoring speeds you won't have to worry about it flying up in your face :laughing:
