Hi All
I finally got off my duff and put all of the knowledge I have gained from all of you re: Toothbars and Bucket hooks on this site to work. I had a good day today, got out in to the shop early this morning and just came in. It is now 10:00 PM. I am not finished, but I could not wait to share what got done today. I have been listening and looking at all the fine work all of you have done and all my efforts just fell in to place. You are good instructors.
I have the tooth bar stuck together. Picked up the tooth adapters and teeth through a friend who works for John Deere at a good price. I had a bar of 1/2" x 3" and 1/4" x 2 1/2" for the side plates in the steel pile . I also added reinforcing plates at the side of the bucket where the retaining bolts came through. I did that because the side plates are made of 10 ga. looked mighty flimsy.
I welded the chain grab hooks on top of the bucket quick attache brackets. I will put a reinforcing bar across the top of the bucket and weld a slip hook in the center of the reinforcing bar. I am thinking of using a 1"x 1" x 1/8" inverted angle for the reinforcing bar. What do you think?
The hooks have strengthened the quick attache brackets. I am a little ticked at myself for undercutting the weld on one of the grab hooks. I won't do anything with it. The JD 790 will never pull it loose.
Will finish up next week hopefully and post some finished pictures.
Kids got together and gave me a canopy for Christmas got that on today also. Want to put lights on using the welding ground magnets and of course a cup holder. Got the tool box on last week. I like spending days like today. Have to get back to work rest of week. Theres always next week.
Thanks to all
Best Wishes
