jd 820 fuel system

Good mornin Y;ll i have a quick question Can across a jd 820 and trying to start I put all new filters,gasktes,etc drained fuel systemm .bleed system all the way to injector pump.Now do I need to bleed fuel line at injectors?hope some one can help.thanks!!

Yes you need to bleed the entire system to and including the injectors.

I assume that getting here late you have already bleed the lines. How did it go for you?

Two cylinder or three cylinder ?

Yes you need to bleed the entire system to and including the injectors.

"thought it had two", is this what you intended?

Two cylinder 1957-1958 tractor? Or the three cylinder 1968-1973 model?
Do you have the operator's manual that shows where and how to prime & bleed the system? A could of sentences hear pales in comparison to the multiple pages of instruction and illustrations in the JD manuals.
Don't waste your time with the I&T manuals either. They are a joke that contain just enough into to get one's self into trouble.

Ah thankyou!just got manual from all state ag its a 3cyl .its a 1973 found in a barn on land i bought to add to mine.It was under bales of hay.Don't know how long it was there,and the land owner past away.Its been there a long time as we had to cut down trees,20 footers to get tractor out.

Curious where you are with the project, have you tried to start it yet?

Good find. The little 820 was a decent utility tractor but useD open center hydraulics so caution if adding valves. I do wonder however what an Ag college tractor manual is and how it compares to the Deere manual. Check the clutch, it maybe stuck with rust.

ok bleed lines at injector have fuel in #1 line no fuel in other lines.So I guess the pump needs to be rebuilt.you stated you had one redone in olive branch MS ?thats about 1hr and half from me.looked at new ones and they want 1k from JD.crazzzyyy.lol Im taking lines off and cleaning cause i have fuel coming out when i cracked the lines at the pump.So to me fuel is in pump maybe line clog!I really thank Y'll for your input as the other tractors are gas.And ive never had desiel before.

I doubt you can buy a new one for $1000, maybe a rebuilt with your core. That said the $220+ parts in Olive Branch is the way to go.

From where you are on this I would agree to try and clear the lines or replace them first. The injectors would concern me if the lines are blocked. Worst case scenario pull the injectors and pump if need be and take them up the road. There is a proper proceedure for R/R of these parts too.

That is so Cool! I thought all the barn finds were old cars. Nice find :thumbsup:

want to thank e1 for the help, tractor is running.had rubber washers that are on the pump going to the injectors.they were all dryed up,it was sucking in air.put new ones and it started right up.yea haw.runs like a top.We figure its been sitting in the barn for at less ten years.also found saddles.duck decoys,etc.It was like finding lost treasure.THANKS EVERYONE!!!
