I got a call from a friend of mine who's father passed away awhile back and owned a John Deere 850 which he purchased new as a harvest rental return with 20-30 hours on the meter and used very little since then. He is not looking for buyers, just a fair market value. Sorry but no photos are available at this time as the tractor is stored in a shed on a remote ranch but I can say that it starts right up and behaves well as I drove it last year for a couple of hours doing dump runs and post hole digging with no issues. I think the reason for such low hours is that the owner also had a Cat D4 and D6 at the ranch.
199 hours on the meter
All sheet metal is straight with no dings, fenders are perfect
Subminimal surface rust
Paint does not appear to be faded but does have an aged patina
All decals in place
No power steering (I don't know if it is broken or not equiped-I would go with the latter)
No cracks in the steering wheel
2/4 wheel drive
one piece ROPS
One small crack in the seat upholstery
High/low eight forward two reverse
Clutch and rest of the drivetrain seems excellent (no oil leaks)
All electricals work
All gauges work
JD FEL (there are implements but for the sake of pricing, let's just keep with the tractor and FEL)
Hydraulics are instant and strong
No remotes
Alternator
A new JD battery will be installed on the next ranch visit
Tires are 80% rear and 60% front
No idea on service records
At this point I can't furnish the year purchased
I think the used car people would refer to this tractor as a "creme puff"
Thanks in advance and just for the record, I own a 2002 NH TC-40 with a FEL, Woods backhoe, Gearmore BB, York 8' rake, Wallenstein BX40 chipper and a custon built hyd log splitter.
