JD 855 - diesel in the engine oil - fuel injector pump?

Hi,
I have a John Deere 855 compact tractor with a Yanmar 3TN75RJ engine.
The tractor starts first time and runs perfectly but I am getting diesel in the engine oil.
I have replaced the mechanical fuel pump and this has not solved the problem.
Is it likely to be the fuel injection pump and if so is there any way of testing this to confirm the problem or is there anything else I should try first?
If it is the fuel injection pump is it possible to buy a repair kit or is the overhaul a specialist repair job?

The tractor has now developed white smoke coming from the engine breather which is presumably the diesel being burnt off in the sump.
I am trying to source a replacement fuel injector pump but this is proving difficult in France.
Any help or advice would be appreciated. Nick

I can say that I had a similar issue w/ my Bobcat CT335. It all of a sudden started rapping really loudly and billowing white smoke out the exhaust. I checked the oil and it was contaminated w/ diesel. I replaced the fuel pump and all's good. Just food for thought.

Thanks for the feedback. I have already replaced the mechanical fuel pump and it has not cured the problem. I can only assume that it is the fuel injector pump and this is an expensive item (particularly if it does not solve the problem. Nick

Nick, Can you get the fuel injector pump rebuilt? I had one rebuilt on my 332, 16 hp yanmar 3 cylinder. It cost me $400, but was still cheaper than paying the $900 plus that Mother Deere wanted for a new one.

Hi Bill, I live in France. If I could get the injector pump rebuilt for $400 I would jump at the opportunity.
The guys in England are quoting me between ｣600-｣1200 ($900-$1800) depending on what they find when there dismantle it.
I could try to get it repaired in USA but I am guessing that the transport costs will be too high.
If you know of anyone who could sell me a reconditioned or working second-hand unit it would be well worth pursuing.
