Tractor Sizing JD 855 w/72" MMM - 24HP OK?

Looking at an 855 w/70A fel, mfwd, 750hrs & a 72"MMM. Low hours and priced right, but I'm a little concerned about the 72" deck with the 855's 24HP, vs the 955's 33HP. Going to use this for a lot of mowing and don't want to be undersized for the times when grass is growing like mad and spring rains prevent mowing... Have really been looking for the 955 but they're harder to find and prices are sometimes crazy. Comments appreciated, Thanks.

That machine will have no trouble with a 72" MMM.

Agree with Kennyd...

Worst case is you'll have to run slower or take partial width passes if the grass is tall and thick (or wet). Do keep your blades sharp!

Nice tractor, the 855!! That was the first compact tractor I operated and is what got me into buying a CUT for myself.

Hoping that worked out for you.....I have a 72 MMM on mine and it will cut grass thats taller than the hood as long as I take it a lil slower. Its a mowing machine...I cut my 5 acres with it like i said as tall as the hood and when i went over it a second time it wasn't even win-rowed....looked like my yard my MMM cuts as good as my zero turn!
