JD 870 Battery Terminal Leads

The battery terminal leads on my JD 870 have broken. I replaced the negative lead with a new one from the local NAPA store. I was going to do the same with the positive lead, but there does not appear to be enough wire left to allow me to cut off the old lead, strip the insulation off, put the new lead on, and get it back on the positive terminal.

I'm thinking about replacing the entire wire from the starter to the battery. Can I buy this at my local NAPA dealer, or do I have to go the my local JD store for the part?

Most NAPA stores will make wires to match your old ones...take it to them.

The positve cable may have an extra wire or two at the stater terminal so you may have to deal with that if you go aftermarket . The replacement from deere will be pricey but nice and easy to install and look factory.

Thanks for the tips! I removed the wire and took it to my local NAPA store and they made one for me that is a couple of inches longer than the original one. They also included the extra wire at the starter terminal. Cost me $28 compared to $37.56 plus shipping from my JD dealer (he's not nearby!)
