I don't post much on this forum but I read it all the time and have gotten lot's of great insight here. Thanks for that! Here's the deal, I have a JD 955 tractor that recently started leaking diesel near the fuel filter housing. There is a hose connected near the top of the filter housing that connects to the filter housing with a 90-degree nipple that rotates. It appears the fuel is leaking out of the nipple where it rotates. My question is, is this fitting supposed to rotate? If so perhaps there is a seal inside that needs replaced (?). If it's not supposed to rotate then maybe the fitting needs replaced? Here is a picture to help explain. The arrow is pointing to the fitting in question where the fuel is leaking from. Thanks anyone for your insight on this. FuelLeakPic.JPG

nipple should not turn, gonna need a new housing, or clean it up good and maybe try something like JB weld

Try to give the fitting another turn. Disconnect the hose clamp, tighten the 90 degree nipple and reconnect the line. If there is enough hose length, cut 1/4" off and reattach it.

on my MF i have the same filter set up and had same prob. I found that is just a pressed in fitting so I just pressed back in while twisting till i couldnt twist no more and so far it has not leaked. good luck

Thanks everyone for the info. I was afraid the fitting wasn't supposed to turn. When I first noticed the problem I disconnected the hose and turned the fitting thinking perhaps it was threaded. I turned it a full revolution but it didn't make a difference and still just as loose. I'll try again while pressing in as suggested. I will let you know how it goes. If not looks like I may need a new housing. Thanks again!

So, I messed with it this weekend and started my tractor to move it to my garage to work on it. Moments after I started it the entire fitting came out and diesel was spraying everywhere! Needless to say, I didn't get far and I'll be fixing it in my shed. Looking closer at the fitting there is a small ring that looks like it holds it in when press fit, but really no way to repair it that I can see. I priced a new fuel filter housing and it's about $60 at my dealer. Should be getting it this week and be back in business. Thanks again all for your input.
