Yesterday I installed a power beyond kit on my 955. It consisted of the installation of a couple lines and a diversion plug. The technical bulletin said to take out the plug and install a smaller, shorter plug in its place. Once installed, it said to loc-tite the old threads. I installed the plug, but held off on the loc-tite until after I tested.
Well, when I fired it up to check for leaks, oil shot out of the diversion hole. I checked the plug by pulling it out and putting it back in (no crossthreading. it fit fine) and it looked good.
I then re-installed the original plug with the diversion plug still in place. Fired it up, everything works fine. Rock arms, loader function. I shut it down, pulled apart the power beyond coupling, and could tell it was circulating.
Now the question. The bulletin did not say to discard the old plug, and did not say to install the new plug It just said to loc-tite the threads. The sheet was written in 1996. Could they have gone with a new, shorter plug? Do I need to worry about any damage?
My dealer says all is OK, but I don't know. Any insight would help.
Thanks in advance
