No shortcut that I figured out. Remove the engine side panels, dash side panels, floorboards and frame covers plus parking brake knob. Undo pivot bolt on cruise control then pull dash upwards. Using long nosed pliers unscrew cable from tach. Remove alternator to access other end of tach cable. Pull old cable out, reinstall new one. 2 hour job
