Hi, new to this forum.
Paid cash for a D160. in LOVE with nothing in this life.
Ordered machine 11/08/12. After pestering the dealer twice, the mess showed up 14th of December. New? don't know where it was dragged in from, but it was NOT new. Demo from another dealer maybe, just to shut me up. Guess they were pissed at me for not charging that beauty on their John Deere revolving credit account. Worst part about it, and the silliest, is that I am a renter and not owner of the property of where I am staying.
The warranty covers nothing on the front axle/ wheel assemblies.
12/18/12 Removed front wheels, removed hub bushings, cleaned and prepared for re- assembly because was not happy with their grease.
12/19/12
Replaced wheel assemblies. While applying grease to the zerks, the grease discharged out of the tube extensions, probably due to defective welding/brazing of tube to the hub.
The only two fixes is to cut off the extension and insert a grease zerk at the base of the wheel, or remove the wheel assembly, and apply grease manually.
Tried to grease the front axle pivot. The zerk had to be replaced, because the one from factory was painted over, so there was ABSOLUTELY no grease on the pivot bushing.
After several other reviews, I read about, the deck is next in line for disassembly.
Stay tuned- we will update soon. poor unsuspecting consumer.
