I live in the NH Seacoast area, and we have two dealers in this area, one works off MSRP -8% without a trade, the other works off about -10.25% off MSRP. Now I'm not a cheap person, but I do want to pay what is a fair price for a 3720, with cab, 300cx loader. Any suggestions on if this is good, or our there other JD dealers in my state, or surrounding states that I should check out? Like I said, I'm not cheap, but I just want to pay about the same as what other people are paying. If its somewhat more, I don't mind, because I know they need to make a living... but on this site, I've seen other posts by members that have recieved tractors at 15% or even sometimes 20%.. Any suggestions? other known dealers that work low in my area? Or do dealers dicker? and if they do, how do you dicker with them, with out looking like an ****---- cheapskate?

Can't answer that question..... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I think you did already. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Real hard to compare different areas with different economic conditions. Dealers in NH vs dealers in NY vs dealers in AR vs dealers in AK, all have different local taxes, expenses, labor rates, etc., etc., etc. Impossible to come up with anything that would be applicable to your area. IMO, anyway.
Find a dealer you are going to want to be happy with and they with you. Get to know the dealer, and not just the salesman, if you can. Sometimes that is easy, sometimes not. Salesmen are likely on a commission. It is much like your job, and someone asking you to do the same work for less money. Would you do that? If you get $35/hour would you take off and do that same job for someone that you don't know, for less? I doubt it, so why should the salesman?
I've heard the argument that it's different with dealers, and they expect to dicker. I wish you luck finding the best deal. And I hope you can be happy with it. And if something isn't quite right, that you will be happy with the dealer making it right, just because 'he owes you' /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Jason – I live in the lakes region and bought a 3320 in late August. I got prices at Osgood's in Ossipee, T&T in Concord and Hawkensen's in Plymouth/Meredith.

Initial quotes all were in the range of 86% to 87% of MSRP. Once you are ready to put your money down, and if you plan to buy the package of tractor, FEL, options, implements, you should be able to get another $500 +/- off. Don't expect them to make the final cut unless you are serious about signing the order.

I ended up with Hawkensen as they have a branch in Meredith that is close to home and all three were in the same price range.

I think you'll find that there's fewer great JD 'deals' in the northeast with most of them being within the 8-10% range that you found. My dealer in VT is the same discount IF it's something he has on the lot or can readily order. Implements are little to no discount other than what JD corporate offers. The most important thing, as others have said, is find the dealer that you trust to stand behind you after the sale. The 3, 4 or 5 points you saved at purchase will be meaningless if you have a non-responsive dealer.

I get 23% off of MSRP on most everything I buy.

Do you think that would apply to the new 4720 cab model? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

JasonMac......it sounds like you are getting a better discount than I am used to in NH. Over the years the local dealer I deal with has been selling for what seems to be MSRP and has no problem letting a sale walk-out the door and down the street to the Kubota outfit. I have done pretty well haggling with car dealers over the years on getting a fair price, but have failed miserably on the tractor front. Let us know how you make out.

When I was going to get a 4720 it applied. I'm sure it would be right around there for the cab model.

It sounds ridiculous, but you might want to check out MA and CT dealers. Even with the sales tax (you might get that waived by showing your address) you should be able to get better deals. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
