i have a gator 4x6 with a yanmar diesel. when operating fuel primer lever nothing happens unless, you turn the filter assembly upside down. one turned right side up the engine will run until fuel in line runs out. operating the fuel primer lever will not pull fuel from tank. petcock is on and screen does not appear to be clogged. please help.:mur:

Find the "bleeding fuel system" in the left column of Servicing Engine.

Time to go "upstream" of the fuel filter then to find the problem, in the fuel line or the tank maybe?
Some air hose blowback into the fuel tank might loosen something up, as others have said works for them.
