JD home and shop catalog

Just received a John Deere Home and Shop catalog. First one I've seen, perhaps others have been getting them for years. Did you know you can get a John Deere table saw, compressor, pressure washer and pnumatic tools?

They didn't have any JD trash cans, or I'd have thrown the catalog in it. I like the idea of JD cups and hats and gloves and various paraphernalia, but it seems silly to brand a table saw with the JD logo.

Mostly I'm annoyed because I got my hopes up when I saw it, then was disappointed that it wasn't more fun stuff in it like JD motercycles or dogs.

To add insult to injury, I didn't see any prices in it. They are just telling you that you can buy this stuff, not what it costs.

At my dealer today, and they were putting out green mailbox's. Wait 'til my wife see's those. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Many, many craft-type items are being sold in stores from silverware (not green, but Deere logo) to shower curtains to sheets/pillow cases to 'you name it' because the Deere logo "sells". If something will sell, then that is good for the economy, and someone will be around to sell it.

I'll hope that I will see the Deere home and shop catalog. I sometimes have not been impressed with the quality of the tools that Deere puts their name on (made by someone else) for sale. Wonder what table saw mfg. is putting Deere's name on? Import? The chainsaw sold now is Italian, I believe, and is a good saw. Much improved over their dealings with Remington and Homelite in previous years. Putting the Deere logo and name on doesn't, in itself, turn the item into a quality product. Just hope that the quality control and design folks know what they are doing.

I was at the local feed/tack store today and they had JD bird feeders and other assorted outdoor nick-nacks. That logo gets around. They must be up there with Harley Davidson for licensing their logo. I wonder what that adds to the bottom line... certainly not enough to lower the price of their tractors. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Now, that's pretty funny /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif I kinda figure, if I have a Safe in my home, the last thing I want to do is make it attention getting!!! The idea is kinda to keep what ya got from prying eyes or sticky fingers....and not to advertise that.."HEY, looky here everybody...I got this here new John Deere Safe. I put it in my living room just so everybody can get a real good look at it and wonder whats inside. Maybe, they can pop me over the head next time I open it up for everyone to look inside my new John Deere safe."
