JD Implements for JD 4300

I was told that I am better off using JD implements for the JD 4300 that I am considering since they both use some type of quick-attack system. Is this correct?

I would be getting a rotary cutter, tiller, seeder, and FEL all by JD.

I realize that as long as it is PTO it would work but I am I safer this way?

FEL yes, but all the others are common three point mounted implements. You won't have a fit issue with any category I three point implement /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I would make sure I got a "Frontier Brand" rotary cutter through John Deere,I have a JD 513 and it is very cheaply made,the shroud/housing is lightweight,but the gearbox appears to be adequate,you could buy a King Cutter or some other brand for 1/2 the price and be better built.

I'd have to agree about the 3pt stuff... my 513 doesn't have the value of some of the other brands. As far as anything using the mid-mount/PTO, you'll probably find that only the stuff designed by JD for your specific tractor will work correctly.

I purchased 3 Frontier implements with my JD4300 (72" rear finish mower, 60" rear blade and 60" lanscape rake). The quality appears first rate. I'm still waiting for the landscape rake, as it's on backorder, but not much of a demand for one with snow on the ground.

I saved some $ buying Frontier over Deere. Frontier was a little less $ than LandPride too.

I was deciding between JD MMM and Woods rear discharge mower, went with the latter after having demo'd it on my property. Very happy with the cut and felt it would be easier on/off via 3pt than mid-mount.

Purchased the Woods RD72 because, curiously, the Frontier (built by Woods) was not available at that time with a pneumatic tire option, which I preferred over solid tires. Other TBN'rs have the experience to advice on pros and cons of the different tire types on a rear mower.

It seemed best to stay with tractor mfgr for the FEL (at least when buying new, as a package), but not an issue with the 3pt attachments.

RKRYNCH-You'll be quite happy with the Woods RD7200. Mine has the solid tires. I did not know you could purchase a Woods with air tires. I was going to purchase a Befco because it had air tires but dealer advised against the air and recommended the solid tires. The air tires can go flat if not sealed but the main reason he advised against was the fact you could roll the tire off the rim when backing up or getting the mower in a bind. The solid tires usually don't wear out but the wheel hub can wear where the axle bolt goes thru even when you grease regularly. My ground is mostly flat and I do not need the optional antiscalp wheel. Good luck with your new 4300 and implements.

Thanks, Bob. Good info - will be better prepared if (when?) I experience those problems, especially re backing up.
