i have alot of obstacles, roots, eneven ground and rough riding in our yard. which mower do yall think would be a better choice for less than 1 acre ? i do plan on use this mower for mowing, hauling, spreading, de-thatching and snow removal either plow or snow thrower all for under 2k. while consumer reports has the jd la 115 as a good buy; looking for web site reviews of either model, i'd come across some knocks on the jd model's from jd owners so.....i have a craftsman self-propelled mower and haven't had a lick of trouble. looking to upgrade to a bigger mower for the above from my lawn boy 8hp 30" (great little mower:thumbsup
I figure the JD la115 is the cheap end of the JD line that is there to compete for a market share of the other cheap lawn mowers out there, such as the Craftsman.
What you read of the knocks from jd owners is likely some discouragment that quality is usually associated with the green paint. Just not as much on the cheaper end. But given the choice, I'd go with the green paint.
Nothing will work well for long if trying to mow obstacles, roots, etc. so go with what you think will be cheapest to replace in a few years.
